The Honors Band is the top performing ensemble at Jones Middle School. Students in this band are expected to perform and rehearse at the highest level of their ability. Members of the Honors Band are expected to be enrolled in private lessons, participate in the All-District and All-Region Band Auditions, Solo & Ensemble Contest, and be leaders in other performing ensembles. Each student is expected to perform in at least one ensemble for the MISD Ensemble Contest, AND perform at least one solo at the MISD Solo Contest. The Honors Band will set the standard in musical performance, integrity, and professionalism at Jones Middle School.

The Symphonic Band is the feeder group to the Honors Band. Students in this band are expected to perform and rehearse at the highest level of their ability. Members of the Wind Ensemble are strongly encouraged to be enrolled in private lessons, participate in the All-District and All-Region Band Auditions, Solo & Ensemble Contest, and be leaders in other performing ensembles such as Chamber music ensembles, and Percussion Ensemble. Each student is expected to perform in one ensemble for the MISD Ensemble Contest, and perform one solo at the MISD Solo Contest. The Concert Band is the feeder group to the Honors Band. Students in this band are expected to perform and rehearse at the highest level of their ability. The Beginning Band is comprised of 7th graders new to Danny Jones Middle School. The 7th grade beginning band offers limited instrumentations at the directors discretion. No prior musical experience is required to be in the Beginning Band, we will teach you everything you need to know in order to be successful. Members of the beginning band are strongly encouraged to be enrolled in private lessons. Each student is expected to perform one solo at the MISD Solo Contest. The Beginning Band will follow the standard set by the Honors Band of musical performance, integrity, and professionalism.
